The Ash Fox Group LLC
Impact your bottom line with top-notch design.™

"When I saw the difference between The Ash Fox Group's rendition of my resume and my original one, it was night and day. Talk about a face-lift. When they finished it (same day) they further took the time to advise me about watching out for widows, orphans, crevices, margins, and even font choices—should I decide to edit it in the future. Absolutely stellar customer service!"

We need not extol the virtues of a well-designed resume, as we're confident that all people understand the positive impact such a document has.

Over the years we've rewritten and touched up more resumes than we can count. We know what hiring managers look for and, more importantly, we know what common set of filters they use. Due to the fact that a company is usually inundated with responses, the hiring manager must isolate only the best resumes to consider, which, if yours contains any of the following items, may send your much-labored-over resume to the bottom of the stack .

The top three "first-out" filters in use by companies are:

  1. Misspelled words: This is the No. 1 reason resumes get set aside. The common belief is that if a person didn't take the time to use something as simple as a built-in spell checker program, chances are they may lack attention to detail, and therefore may not take instruction well. While there are proponents both for and against this theory, it does exist—and therefore must be considered.
  2. Incorrect syntax/grammatical errors: If you're applying for a position where communication is key—especially management positions— improper use of grammar on a resume may cause the hiring manager to infer that you are unable to communicate with proper syntax verbally. While this may or may not be true, it's an area that you need to make sure is a non-issue when a hiring manager reviews your resume.
  3. Margins: Having a one-inch margin on top, half-inch on the left side, and text running practically off the page on the right will visually cause the viewer confusion—an emotion you don't want them to have when looking over your qualifications. At that point it won't matter that you drew a horizontal line on the bottom; it may not even matter if you're actually well-qualified. As far as they're concerned, it shows a lack of structure, and therefore a lack of organization. It's an invitation to get passed over.

The Ash Fox Group will make sure that all these things, including several more that are in use, don't work against you. We'll make sure that you have the greatest opportunity to get your foot in the door. Of course, getting the job is up to you.

Resume writing is available to everyone; and at $35* each, it won't break your bank. We'll provide you both PDF and Word formats—one to forward to others and the other for you to further mark up as time goes on. Rush services are available for a nominal fee. Contact us to start the process.

* Executive and professional resumes, due to their inherent complexity, range from $50-$200 each.
